What is Computational Science & Engineering?

Recognised as the third mode of discovery, computational science and engineering (CSE) involves the use of mathematical modelling and numerical analysis developed through computational technology, used to solve complex physical problems arising in engineering and design.

Exploiting the power of high performance computing (HPC), CSE is driving unprecedented levels of scientific discovery and engineering innovation, shaping research and development in industry and academia, advancing and stimulating solutions to global challenges. An exciting and rapidly emerging field, CSE is used in scenarios where its physically impossible or uneconomic to examine and experiment, where a computational route may be the only viable option.
